READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS WARNING. PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS. Extreme pressures are generated. Use all safety guards. It is the responsibility of the user to operate the machine and tooling in accordance with OSHA Laws and ANSI B11.5 Safety Standards.
Clearance between punch and die is critical, for both operator safety and tool life. This chart is based only on material thickness.

How to Calculate Required Tonnage Round Hole:
Diameter X Thickness X 80 = Tonnage
Shaped Hole Other than Round
1/3 of perimeter X Thickness X 80 = Tonnage
Perimeter X Thickness X 80 = Tonnage
The 80 in this formula represents the tensile strength of mild steel or approximately 65,000 PSI. Other materials such as a stainless steel have a much higher tensile. For these materials here is the multiplier to calculate additional tonnage required.
